Minerals

Sandra Reford curated a show of small quilts for the Geologists' Convention in Toronto this year and I created "Colmnar Basalt, Delaps Cove, N.S." for the show, based on a photo I had taken of that rock formation while visiting family in Nova Scotia after Quilt Canada in Newfoundland a couple of years ago.   Technique is raw-edged machine applique for the most part.

Another quilt, Amish Stars was also accepted at the Verona Textile Festival in Italy (Et Lucean le Stelle)and is on its way there now along with the rest of the Minerals collection

Swiss Landscape near Interlaken

We have just returned from a family trip to Switzerland, to visit friends and family of my husband.  My oldest daughter wanted us to rent a chalet in the Alps and go for a hiking holiday when her kids were old enough to go hiking in the mountains and while we were still not too old to go hiking in the mountains, so we did.

I also took a few photos of landscapes that I might eventually turn into quilts.  Please visit my website at http://www.horizonsqulting.ca/ to see two recent little landscapes/sunsets from last year's trip to British Columbia.
